National Bank bought $ 300 million in one week
The central bank took advantage of the falling dollar and bought the US currency for 300 million.
The National Bank bought $ 299 million on the interbank market this week, according to the central bank’s website on Friday, December 18.
This is 3.8 times more than last week: $ 79 million. Before that, the regulator had not entered the interbank market for a month.
Since the beginning of the year, the NBU has bought foreign exchange for $ 4.929 billion on the interbank market and sold it for $ 3801.60 million. The net purchase amounted to $ 1,127.40 million.
The NBU explains the monthly absence in the interbank market by the fact that the foreign exchange market was balanced.
Note that this week the hryvnia has strengthened considerably, but at the weekend it started to fall again and approached 28 hryvnia per dollar.
