To overcome the risks of the COVID-19 epidemic with the help of vaccines, 90% of the country’s inhabitants need to be vaccinated, but this scenario is not realistic.

Such a statement on December 17 on the talk show “Big Online Conversation NV” was made by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal. He noted that the same percentage of the population should be vaccinated in the event of a flu epidemic.

“To completely eliminate the risk of an epidemic [коронавируса] – 90% of the country’s population must be vaccinated. I know from the flu shot. ” – said the Chief of Staff.

According to him, as president of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional state administration, he also set himself the task “that 90% of the region be vaccinated” in case of a flu epidemic.

The prime minister admitted that this is unrealistic. Shmyhal added that in addition to the vaccine, the coronavirus treatment protocol will be constantly improved in the future.

“Next year will be a transitional phase in the fight against the virus, overcoming and transitioning to a normal life.”, – he thinks.

We will recall, during the interview, Shmygal also said that Ukraine has developed a national vaccination plan against COVID-19, which should be approved in the next week.
