The Court of Arbitration for Sport has announced a decision on the dispute between the Russian Anti-Doping Agency and WADA. The CAS sided with WADA and banned athletes from the Russian Federation from participating in international competitions under the Russian flag for the next 2 years.
This was reported by the news agencies with reference to a statement from the press service of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The details are published by the Telegram channel “Dialogue of Ukraine”.
Therefore, Russian athletes are not eligible to participate in the next two Olympic Games.
Furthermore, according to the conclusion of the contest, the Russian Federation is deprived of the right to use its own country’s name, flag and anthem. Russian athletes will be able to perform under a neutral flag, but only those who have not previously been involved in a doping scandal can do so.
In another decision, the judge prohibited the Russian Federation from attempting to hold sporting events on its territory in the next 24 months.
Earlier, a large-scale counterfeiting scheme was revealed, with the help of which the Russian authorities tried to conceal the use of doping by athletes of the Russian Federation. The hoax was later revealed, after which a huge scandal broke out.
