Volodymyr Zelenskyy intends to provide Ukraine with a licensed vaccine against COVID-19
Ukraine is not yet included in the list of 92 countries that will receive the vaccine as a priority, the head of state admitted.
Ukraine should have received the first batches of the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine in January 2021. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the diplomatic conference Strategic Priorities of Ukraine’s Foreign Policy on Wednesday, December 17.
“We need to receive the first batches of vaccine early next year, in January, to start vaccination in Ukraine. Unfortunately, we are not yet among the 92 priority countries that can receive the vaccine in January-February. But we are working very hard on this”. “Zelensky said.
He stressed that the issue of providing Ukraine with a licensed vaccine against COVID-19 is extremely important.
“Ukrainian state leaders, diplomatic corps and employees of special services are working on this task. Information on countries where vaccination may start in the near future and where we have an excess of vaccines,” Zelensky said.
Earlier, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said that vaccination in Ukraine is expected to start in February. He recalled that in the first half of the year Ukraine should receive a vaccine as part of the COVAX initiative.
