German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the German government would like to improve relations with Russia, but is not forgetting the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. He also believes that Germany is pursuing “a very honest policy towards Moscow.”

Angela Merkel spoke about this in her speech in parliament on Wednesday.

Germany wants good relations with Moscow, he said, but things like the poisoning of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, the assassination of a former Chechen commander in Berlin and the little progress in the Minsk process on the conflict in Ukraine cannot be ignored.

“You must not close your eyes to reality,” Merkel said.

We will recall, earlier, several Russian media reported false information about Alexey Navalny and his wife. The journalists referred to a fictitious German publication.

Furthermore, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer stated that the threat from the Russian Federation has become even more apparent. She believes that NATO should strengthen its defensive capabilities and begin to speak from a position of strength.
