The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, during a meeting on Wednesday December 16, approved the distribution of calls for emergency medical attention.
Therefore, all calls will be divided into 4 categories: critical, emergency, non-emergency, and non-basic. This will optimize the work of ambulance workers.
So, the distribution criteria are as follows:
Critical call. This category includes cases that require immediate response and intervention, that is, resuscitation measures generally. They are accompanied by: shortness of breath, ineffective breathing, signs of massive blood loss.
Such cases are due: all kinds of injuries, the influence of external factors (lightning, electric shock), intoxication or poisoning (including animal bites, insects).
In this case, the team should be almost immediately at the call location in the event of a critical call, up to 10 minutes.
Extra a call that includes a potentially serious condition that requires emergency or urgent transportation to the scene.
Such cases are accompanied by: impaired consciousness, signs of bleeding, signs of acute coronary syndrome, signs of a possible acute stroke, respiratory disorders.
The time before the first contact with the patient should be up to 20 minutes.
It’s not an emergency call. These include cases that do not pose a threat to the life and health of the patient, but the sick or injured person requires the advice of a healthcare worker.
Non-essential calls. In this case the arrival of an ambulance is not required. They are related to the treatment of patients whose condition does not require urgent attention. In this case, the patient can get the necessary advice over the phone.
We will recall, earlier the Minister of Health announced the introduction of such criteria for emergency medical care. He also indicated that an ambulance must go to the patient, who is closest to him, regardless of the record and other factors.
Additionally, the ambulance was reported to be late for calls in almost 70% of cases.
