Gas production in Ukraine continues to decline
The energy holding company was allowed to acquire the Yuzovskaya oil and gas production area, which should help increase domestic gas production.
The Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on Wednesday December 16 made a decision allowing Naftogaz to acquire the Yuzovskaya oil and gas area, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.
“This large and promising field has been practically inactive for more than a year, and the state is missing opportunities to make profits and increase gas production. This is a very important step for Ukraine’s energy independence,” he said.
Previously, the government adopted a decree allowing Naftogaz to carry out oil and gas exploration and production on the Black Sea shelf without holding an auction.
Note that the state enterprise Ukrgasvydobuvannya in the first half of the year reduced gas production by 0.8%, to 6.76 billion m3 In parallel, 24 new wells were put into operation, 347 operations were carried out with units of flexible tubing and 53 operations with hydraulic fracturing.
