COVID vaccination will begin in winter - Ministry of Health

Vaccination promises to start in February

The first vaccines will be purchased directly from the manufacturing companies and the COVAX vaccine is expected later.

Vaccination against the coronavirus in Ukraine may start as early as February, the head of the Health Ministry Maxim Stepanov said on Wednesday, December 16.

According to him, the first vaccinations will probably be carried out with drugs that will be purchased directly from manufacturers.

“We are trying to get these vaccines to Ukraine as soon as possible. We have set ourselves the goal of starting the first vaccinations from February next year,” Stepanov said.

At the moment, negotiations with manufacturing companies are ongoing.

Stepanov also recalled that in the first half of the year Ukraine should receive a vaccine as part of the COVAX initiative.

The day before, the head of the Ministry of Health clarified the free vaccination plans. If Verkhovna Rada promised free vaccination of the entire population, then the Ministry of Health speaks only about half.
