In late October, following the upcoming transfer of Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish developers of CD Projekt indicated “at least 90 points on Metacritic” as one of their targets. In pursuit of qualification, the studio, as you know, was modestly silent on the technical condition of the outgoing generation consoles, which eventually turned into a “fire” that CD Projekt is now trying to put out. Ironically, on December 15, the Metacritic rating of the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 dropped to 89 out of 100 (based on 62 reviews).
At the same time, the average rating for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 is 52 and 55, respectively. However, in the first case the rating is based on seven reviews, and in the second, on five. At the same time, the average rating of the PS4 version of the players is 3 out of 10, and the Xbox One version is 4.1 out of 10.
On review aggregator OpenCritic, which previously accused CD Projekt of deliberately withholding information about the technical state of the game on outgoing-generation consoles, Cyberpunk 2077’s rating dropped even further, from initial 91 points to 84.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched on December 10 on consoles and PC. On December 12, CD Projekt released patch 1.04 with many fixes, and a second update will be released in the next seven days. There are also two more patches in the works, which will be released in January and February 2021. In a recent urgent meeting with investors, CD Projekt’s senior management pledged to correct all bugs and errors, and bring the versions to the consoles of the outgoing generation to a reproducible state.
