The chosen one President of the USA Joe Biden alleged appoint a new ambassador to Ukraine in place of General Keith Dayton, who has already partially completed the appointment procedure.
This was announced on Tuesday, December 16, by the former special representative of the US State Department for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, reports Ukrinform. He stressed that this is only his assumption.
“I assume, and I emphasize, this is my assumption, that the Biden administration will appoint someone new to the post of ambassador to Ukraine after he enters the office in January,” Volcker said.
He noted that the appointment process it may take several monthsand a “highly qualified career diplomat” will be appointed to the position.
Volcker expressed confidence that in the new administration, probably position will not be entered the United States Special Representative for Ukraine, which he himself held for a long time. These responsibilities, he said, will be assigned to one of the senior officials of the presidential administration.
He added that such a scheme was relevant in the administration of President Barack Obama, when the Ukrainian leadership in the State Department was led by Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.
