An anonymous message about mining, shutting down the central stations, arrived around 3:00 p.m. on December 15. The metro’s press service announced the opening of Khreshchatyk and Maidan Nezalezhnosti stations on Facebook some six hours later.
Information about mining was not confirmed, the press service of the Kiev police informed the agency “RBK-Ukraine”. Ukrainska Pravda writes that the Zolotye Vorota station was also closed. A member of PrivaBank’s supervisory board, Roman Sulzhik, posted on Facebook a photo with a line leading to the escalator at this station.
The long closure of the stations caused a massive crowd of people at the “Palacio de los Deportes” station, the agency writes. The video of the stampede was posted on Facebook by the public “Kiev operative”.
Since morning December 15 in the center of the capital is a protest action by the participants of the “SaveFOP” initiative. Employers oppose the ban on jobs under strict quarantine in January and demand the abolition of cash registers.
The protesters tried to pitch tents several times, the police interfered with them. There was a fight between the parties, the police used tear gas against the protesters, batons. The activists threw sticks, pipes and parts of tents at the law enforcement officers. According to the police, 40 law enforcement officers were injured, the number of activists injured is unknown. Criminal proceedings have been opened for the wounding of police officers.
At night, the protesters set up several tents. Some of the picketers spend the night on the Maidan.
