The Ministry of Health expects to receive a vaccine against COVID-19 in February
Now Ukraine is in the final stage with several manufacturers of vaccines against the coronavirus, says the head of the Ministry of Health.
Ukraine’s negotiations with several coronavirus vaccine manufacturers are in their final stages. This was stated by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov, on the air of Radio NV on Tuesday, December 15.
The Minister noted that in the global initiative COVAX Ukraine will receive 8 million doses of vaccine in the first half of the year.
“We expect to receive the first vaccines in the first quarter of 2021. Now we are doing everything possible so that the first doses in Ukraine appear in February,” Stepanov said.
He added that the vaccine will be used mainly to vaccinate those categories of the population that the Ministry of Health can “control very clearly”: medical workers, military personnel, education workers.
Let us remember that the EU is allocating 500 million euros for COVID vaccines for poor countries. The vaccines will be purchased and delivered by UNICEF and the Pan American Health Organization on behalf of COVAX.
Stepanov also clarified the free vaccination plans. The day before, the parliament promised free vaccination against the coronavirus for the entire population. The Ministry of Health speaks only of half.
