A new type of coronavirus has been discovered in the UK and is spreading very quickly. More than 1000 cases of infection have already been identified, mainly in the south of England.

This was announced by UK Health Minister Matt Hancock, according to Sky News.

The new COVID-19 strain is spreading faster than the existing coronavirus strain and is believed to be contributing to a “very strong exponential increase” in cases in the southeast of the country.

So far it has been found in 60 districts and the virus is believed to be similar to a mutation found elsewhere in recent months.

The Health Minister said there is currently no evidence that the new strain does not respond to the COVID-19 vaccines that are being introduced across the country.

He also noted that there is no data yet to indicate that a new variant of the infection causes a severe form of the disease.

Chief Medical Professor Chris Whitty said the new strain is no more dangerous than existing ones. He noted that perhaps this could affect the effectiveness of the vaccine, but that would be “surprising.”

We will remember, the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Maxim Stepanov, said that he will be vaccinated against COVID-19 for free.

Earlier, Kiev infectious disease specialist Olga Golubovskaya said why massive COVID-19 testing is useless.
