Another emergency occurred on the International Space Station: the Electron-VM oxygen production system failed again due to pressure problems.

The incident was reported by Russian astronauts during negotiations with the Mission Control Center. This was reported by “Interfax-Ukraine”.

As specified by cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov, the Electron exploded around noon.

He also emphasized that “Electron” shut down not because of power issues, but because of oxygen pressure issues.

Please note that the failure of the oxygen production system on the ISS has occurred at least 5 times in the last 2 months. Roscosmos assured that the situation does not threaten the life and health of the station crew.

The Electron system is located on the Russian segment of the ISS in the Zvezda module. During the repair of the system, a backup system is in operation on the US segment of the station.

Since August, the ISS crew has been searching for and fixing an air leak in the Russian Zvezda module. It is suggested that depressurization may be related to the age of the station.

At the same time, Roscosmos CEO Sergei Krikalev rejected the allegation of an increase in the number of breakdowns on the ISS, saying that the station’s modules could operate much longer than their warranty period.

We previously wrote that on November 18, Russian astronauts lost a part of the ISS station during their spacewalk.

It was also reported that prior to this on the ISS in the Russian section “Zvezda” there was an oxygen leak, and a pressure drop was also recorded. At the Mission Control Center, astronauts were advised to use foam rubber and duct tape to remove a scratch on board the ISS.
