In 2021, Ukraine will borrow 180 billion UAH from international creditors and another 497 billion UAH from “domestic” ones. Most of this amount (468 billion) will go to pay debts already incurred.
Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko announced this in an interview with Ukrinform. “Overall, next year we plan to receive from external sources about 180 billion hryvnia ($ 6.41 billion at current exchange rate. – Ed.). Mainly from our international partners. For Ukraine, this is a amount of “lift.” 497 billion. But to give creditors owe 468 billion hryvnia. In fact, most of the loans is intended to pay debts from previous periods “, – said Marchenko.
At the same time, according to the minister’s estimates, loans to Ukraine will fall in price early next year. Problems can arise if the cooperation program with the IMF is restricted. Then Ukraine will lose not only the Fund’s loans, but also the support of other creditors. Thus, investors are more willing to grant loans to those countries that have active cooperation programs with the IMF.
Earlier, the Executive Board of the World Bank decided to grant Ukraine a loan of $ 300 million (approximately UAH 8.4 billion). The money should be spent on social protection.
