In addition, the fifth president thanked the United States for providing assistance in the security sector.

Ukraine’s fifth president, leader of the European Solidarity party, welcomed the adoption by the US Senate of the defense budget, which provides for military assistance to Ukraine.

Poroshenko wrote about this on Facebook.

“Good news from Washington, where it was agreed to provide Ukraine with other annual security assistance, including an increase in support for lethal weapons,” Poroshenko said.

In his opinion, this is exactly the path to be taken to “discourage the appetite of the Russian aggressor for Ukraine.”

“For the Ukrainian authorities now, the key is to demonstrate and ensure Ukraine’s real progress on the path of reforms in the security and defense sector,” Poroshenko said.

He also thanked Republican Senator Robert Potrman, co-founder and co-chair of the Ukraine Support Group in the US Senate.

“I sincerely thank Senator Rob Portman for his proactive position in supporting our state on the basis of a long-term strategy to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine and consolidate the transatlantic unity of the front and solidarity with Ukraine!” – writes Poroshenko.

We will recall, earlier it was reported that Ukraine plans to expand cooperation with the European Union in the field of security. Currently, the Ministry of Defense is considering the possibility of participating in the European Union Structured Cooperation Program (PESCO).
