Mastercard and Visa not working on PornHub
This decision is related to the accusation of distributing videos of violence against minors.
The Mastercard and Visa payment systems have banned the use of their cards for payments on one of the world’s largest pornographic resources, PornHub, the New York Times writes on December 11.
Visa and Mastercard had previously launched an investigation into the porn site following an NYT post in which PornHub was accused of distributing videos containing child sexual abuse.
The author of the article, Nicholas Christoph, writes that the resource contains hundreds of thousands of videos of violence against minors, the so-called “revenge porn”, when the participant in the video did not consent to the publication or even the filming.
Mastercard said the investigation had confirmed a “violation of payment system standards” prohibiting illegal content and halting operations with its cards. Visa also ordered the payments to stop pending an investigation.
In response to the allegations, PornHub stated that it has never permitted the posting of child sexual abuse videos and is “committed to fighting such content.”
