Magnetic storms in December (collage: RBK-Ukraine)
The G2 level magnetic storm will cover Earth in the next few days. Soon we will have a storm that will last two days. But these geomagnetic fluctuations will not be the last in December 2020.
Astrophysicists have named new dates for December’s magnetic storms, and doctors gave advice on how to avoid serious consequences.
When to expect the strongest magnetic storm in December
So, according to FIAN’s Sun X-ray Astronomy Laboratory, a strong impact from the G2 level is expected on Thursday, December 10. The next day, a magnetic storm is also predicted, but its strength will already decrease to the G1 level.
Another magnetic storm will be on Saint Nicholas Day, December 19. On the 18th, the magnetosphere will be excited. On December 24, fluctuations are also expected, but less intense.
Interestingly, scientists predict an increase in magnetic storms in the near future. The fact is that the Sun entered “cycle 25”, so its activity began to grow. The star will peak in 2025.

Who needs to fear a magnetic storm?
Geomagnetic storms are most strongly felt by meteosensitive people. Health problems can also occur in the elderly, those suffering from cardiovascular disease, hypotensive, hypertensive.
These categories should be especially careful when monitoring your health these days. The pressure can jump, the heart rate is bad, the head hurts a lot.
Doctors say that even healthy people can feel bad during the days of a strong geomagnetic storm: fatigue, irritability, headaches.
How to protect your health during a magnetic storm
If you are at risk, you should carefully monitor your condition and it is best to consult your doctor in advance. In any case, it is better to carry the necessary medications with you.
For people with a weak nervous system, doctors recommend taking prescription sedatives to avoid panic attacks. At the same time, you should not look for alarming symptoms in yourself if something suddenly hurts.
It is important to stay asleep for 7-8 hours, eat well and maintain moderate physical activity.
These days it is better to abstain from alcohol and smoke, and drink less coffee and other invigorating drinks.
Try to spend more time outdoors, walking. This not only trains the body, but also calms the nervous system.
Previous forecasters also warned of a sharp change in the weather. There will be a fight in the country between anticyclone and cyclones, which will cause stormy winds and heavy rainfall.
