The imminent launch of the action-adventure Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps the most discussed topic in recent days. Like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the new CD Projetk RED creation will be “stuffed” with Nvidia technologies, which the chipmaker’s press service never fails to recall at every opportunity. We already know from early tests that Cyberpunk 2077 will require a powerful graphics card. Nvidia itself has shared its own benchmarks.
The results provided by the “greens” correlate with data from our colleagues at Tom’s Hardware. At 4K resolution, ultra-fine-tuning for graphics quality with ray-traced effects is too difficult even for the flagship GeForce RTX 3090. Nvidia DLSS 2.0 intelligent upscaling technology may improve the situation, although not everyone likes it.
Hopefully the situation is better at 2560×1440 pixels. The best Nvidia Ampere GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 offer average frame rates in the region of 39.3 and 44.8 fps. With the activation of DLSS 2.0, the fps rate increases more than 1.5 times.
If we talk about Full HD resolution, then for a comfortable ~ 60fps with ray tracing, a GeForce RTX 3080 video card will suffice. The GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 2080 Ti adapters produce around 44-45.9 fps, and the recently released GeForce RTX 3060 Ti card: 40.1 fps.
Please note that on launch day, the ray tracing effects in Cyberpunk 2077 will only work on GeForce RTX 3D accelerators. Support for AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards will appear in one of the patches. And the performance of the “green” adapters is sure to increase with future game updates.
