Micro-Star International is offering a reward to anyone who helps it find 40 boxes of graphics cards that were stolen from its factory in China last morning. At first glance, stealing 220 graphics cards may seem like a trifle, but we’re talking about the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 with a total cost of about $ 336.5 thousand.
Details of the theft were not disclosed, but the seller has already contacted the police and is offering ~ $ 15,000 (100,000 yuan) for information that will help find the criminals and recover the stolen video cards. Since the shipping plant is under video surveillance and trucks are monitored regularly, MSI believes that one of the company’s employees may have been involved in the incident.
If we talk about this event in the context of a shortage of GeForce RTX 3000 cards, then it will not have a noticeable impact on the global (in) availability of Nvidia Ampere 3D accelerators. Unless those who want to buy a GeForce RTX 3090 made by MSI will have to wait a bit longer.
