The winners of each of the ten qualifying groups go directly to the World Cup. Teams that finish second are in the playoffs.
The playoffs will feature the 10 second-place teams in the groups, as well as the top two UEFA Nations League group winners that did not qualify for the World Cup and did not qualify for the playoffs.
