The Ukrainian side hopes for a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Donbass, because war is not the philosophy of a democratic Ukraine, said the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the trilateral contact group, the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk.

If there is no progress in the negotiations on Donbass, Ukraine will offer the West to disconnect Russia from the international payments system. This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian delegation in the trilateral contact group, the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, in an interview on the television channel Ukraine 24 on the night of December 5.

Answering a journalist’s question, what kind of plan B could Kiev have to resolve the situation in Donbass? the standard of our understanding of the situation, our search for new influences and our proposals to pressure the aggressor … These can be sanctions, which are called the international payment system. We will ask for it and we will demand it ”.

He stressed that Ukraine expects a diplomatic settlement of the situation, because war is not “the philosophy of a democratic Ukraine.”

“If Russia does not want to reach an agreement through diplomatic political means, we must do everything possible to stop the aggression and restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine through pressure from the world community and Ukraine. And we will find forms of pressure,” he said Kravchuk.

When asked if martial law would help win the war in Donbass, Kravchuk replied, “In no case.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about Plan B for Donbass in 2019. He said that if the Donbass territory cannot be liberated in the near future, the residents of the occupied territories will have the opportunity to expect this in the territory controlled by Kiev.

In May, the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, said that Ukraine intends to do everything in its power to end the war in Donbass before the end of the year.

In 2014, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, Russia launched an armed aggression in eastern Ukraine. The fighting is between the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the one hand, and the Russian army and the Russian-backed militants who control parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, on the other. The Russian Federation does not officially recognize its invasion of Ukraine, despite the facts and evidence presented by Ukraine.

Negotiations on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass are taking place in the trilateral contact group in Minsk (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE), as well as in the Normandy format, with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia. Representatives of the DPR and LPR militants are present at the talks in Minsk.
