The United States of America has cut five cultural exchange programs with China. Washington believes that Beijing is using these programs as propaganda tools.
This is stated in a statement by the United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, which was distributed by the United States Department of State.
Thus, the US side canceled the educational travel programs for politicians to China, the trans-Pacific exchange, the exchange of leaders, as well as the educational and cultural program in Hong Kong.
“These programs, conducted in accordance with the educational and cultural exchange law, allowed employees of US government agencies to travel at the expense of foreign governments,” Pompeo said.
He believes that these programs are fully funded by the Chinese government to be used as “soft power propaganda tools.”
We recall yesterday that the United States imposed sanctions against several Chinese officials, who are suspected of threatening people who do not share Beijing’s policy. Washington imposed visa restrictions on officials of the China United Front Department.
