Law enforcement officers exposed an organized criminal group led by an active SBU officer. The attackers extorted large sums of money from the victims.

RRB investigators reported the suspicion to an operative from one of Ukraine’s Security Council departments in the Kharkiv region. The SBU officer is suspected of organizing an organized criminal group, which he led, reports the RRB press service.

“According to the investigation, the law enforcement officer, for profit, organized a criminal group with a clear distribution of the roles of accomplices, which engaged in extortion with the use of violence,” says the message.

So, in May 2019, knowing that in one of the Kharkov forest belts there is a so-called “marker”, six members of the group prepared an ambush.

When a man approached him and took a narcotic substance, members of the group began to beat him.

The attackers threatened him with further retaliation and that they would hand him over to the police. They promised that they would not touch him anymore and that he would shirk responsibility if he handed over 100,000 hryvnias.

The victim did not have that amount of money. Then the next day he was brought before a notary, where he was given a fictitious loan contract for the previously announced amount.

This incident was not the only one. The second time, members of the criminal gang also prepared an ambush. They extorted three thousand dollars from a citizen. The blackmail victim paid them 57 thousand hryvnia.

“Therefore, an employee of the SBU is suspected of extortion of the property of another person with threat of violence against the victim, committed repeatedly by prior conspiracy of a group of people (part 2 of article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) “said the SBI.

Now the question of choosing a preventive measure and removing the suspect from office is decided.

The sanction of the article provides for a punishment in the form of imprisonment of up to seven years.

We wrote earlier that the SBI conducted searches of forestry companies in the Kiev region. For two years, officials have systematically carried out illegal logging under the pretext of forming and rehabilitating forests.

It was also reported that GBR bought six new SUVs for eight million hryvnia. Department officials purchased a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and five Toyota Land Cruiser 150 Prado SUVs.
