The Embassy of Ukraine sent a note to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the timetable with the “Russian” Crimea

The calendar for 2021 was published by the Religious Union of Muslims of Poland. The Ukrainian Embassy has already sent a note to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry due to the publication of the “Russian” Crimea in the calendar for 2021 by the Religious Association of Muslims of Poland. Ambassador Andriy Deshchitsa said this, Ukrinform reported on Friday, December 4.

The embassy of Ukraine is unhappy with the fact that after the removal of the inscription “Russian Federation” in the electronic version of the calendar, the entry on territorial affiliation to Ukraine did not appear.

According to the diplomat, the Ukrainian embassy first sent a letter to the Religious Union of Muslims of Poland with a request to correct the mistake. Nedim Useinov, a member of the Executive Committee of Poland’s World Congress of Crimean Tatars, also addressed the organization with a similar letter.

Later, the Polish Muslim Association issued a statement apologizing for the error and made changes to the electronic version of the calendar.

“But we consider that these changes are not completely correct, they do not fully reflect the position of Ukraine, as well as Poland, where this organization is officially registered,” stressed Deshchitsa.

In this regard, the Ukrainian embassy in Poland sent a second letter to the religious association of Muslims. It contains a request to indicate on the calendar that Crimea belongs to Ukraine, and also to contact the institutions to which the calendar has already been sent, with a message that these errors have been corrected, and the position of the Polish Muslim Association is based on the recognition of Crimea as part of Ukraine.

“Due to the fact that there is no reply, we sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry, stating our position. Poland’s official position is unequivocal: Warsaw recognizes Crimea as Ukraine’s territory, does not recognize and condemns the occupation of Crimea.” Deshchitsa added.

The ambassador pointed out that the Religious Union of Muslims of Poland is funded by the Polish state, so the Polish Foreign Ministry expressed its willingness to join together to clarify this situation.

Please note that as of the morning of December 4, the website with the calendar was removed from the official website of the Polish Muslim Association.

Recall, on December 1 it was reported that the Polish Muslim Union published a calendar with the “Russian” Crimea. The calendar shows mosques in Simferopol, Feodosia, Bakhchisarai and Old Crimea with an inscription on the territory belonging to Russia.

It was also reported that Kiev is threatening sanctions for the Austrian company due to the work in Crimea. The Ukrainian diplomat appealed to the director of the construction office, but he did not listen to the arguments.
