“LASK” should be proud of himself, despite the final draw and relegation from the European competition after the fifth round. The Austrian team played very high quality football against the English championship leader and on a better day could have beaten José Mourinho’s team. And then, just a draw. “LASK” has obviously played enough for more.
Mourinho, as predicted, lined up a semi-main squad, but Lo Celso, Heybjerga, Mouru, Ndombele and Sona can be called first team players. However, “Tottenham” looked weak. “LASK” deftly pressured the guests, pressed very well and did not allow the “spurs” to create chances in their goal. The goal was well deserved: Doherty fumbled in someone else’s midfield, LASK quickly went on the attack and Mikhorl, having received the ball, hit Hart’s goal from 25 meters. The former England goalkeeper couldn’t take a not very strong blow, but it must be said that the ball bounced off the grass in front of him.
Tottenham was lucky to recover before the break. A rare “spur” run at someone else’s goal resulted in a penalty. Moura crossed from the wing, the LASK defenders failed to finish the ball in time and Ndombele shot the defender in the hand. Bale scored the penalty spot.
After the break, the pattern of play did not change, but this time the guests scored first. “LASK” cut into the other side and Ndombele handed the ball to Son in one bunt. The Korean had no trouble scoring his twelfth goal of the season.
The defeat knocked LASK out of the European Cup spring and the Linz team was not going to give up. At the end of the match there was a scoring show. The Austrians rallied after Eggestein’s goal, but then again scored a penalty at their own goal. This time Dele Alli marked it. However, Tottenham failed to take away the victory. In the last seconds of the match, Karamoko took a big hit, it wasn’t the best day for Hart.
“LASK” played three goals, but also conceded three times due to the high individual class of the opponent.
