The Parliament of Moldova, on Thursday, December 3, approved in first reading bills on the operation of languages and on the abolition of the law prohibiting “Russian propaganda”. This decision was supported by the majority of votes of the deputies of the Party of Socialists and the party of the “Shor” faction – 51 out of 101 deputies, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
The opposition and president-elect Maia Sandu opposed the passing of the laws. The draft law on the functioning of languages guarantees the status of the inter-ethnic communication language for Russian.
The document says that Moldova provides the necessary conditions for the use and development of the Russian language as an inter-ethnic language.
Earlier, “Strana” wrote that Moldova introduces a state of emergency and closes for a shutdown until mid-December.
We also report that the Moldovan parliament approved the reduction of Sandu’s presidential powers.
