The new OSCE Secretary General will be the representative of Germany Helga Schmid. She will remain in office for three years.
German representative Helga Schmid will be appointed the new General Secretary of the OSCE. This was stated on Thursday 3 December by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, the Prime Minister and the Albanian Minister of European and Foreign Affairs, Edi Rama, at the 27th meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers, writes TASS .
“I am glad that we have everything ready for the appointment of new leaders. Secretary General – Helga Schmid, Director of the ODIHR – Matteo Mecacci, Representative for Media Freedom – Teresa Ribeiro, High Commissioner for National Minorities – Kairat Abdrakhmanov”, said Rama .
They will receive mandates for the next three years. Edi Rama expressed her confidence in the professionalism of her colleagues and asked everyone to help them.
He also said that the organization needs competent leadership, as it is important to build trust in the OSCE, so that it reaches a qualitatively new level and is committed to the principles on which it is based.
Recall that the OSCE recorded more than 160 violations in Donbas over the weekend. Most of the blasts were recorded in the southern direction of the Donetsk filter station and in the areas south of Avdiivka.
