Popular athlete and online specialist Andy Lewis said it was he and his friends who dismantled mysterious monolith, previously found by researchers in the desert of Utah (USA).
Lewis confirmed his words with a short YouTube video, which allegedly captured the decommissioning, and also explained his act for the decision to save the Utah desert from the influx of tourists. People’s opinions were divided, but even if the double does not lie, there are no fewer questions about the strange objects and their origin.
For the past few days, the world has been enthusiastically following the appearance of new metal obelisks in different parts of the planet: first, a smooth three-sided monolith was found in the Utah desert, then unknown people in Romania installed a similar figure. 4 meters. And as people discussed the same mysterious disappearance of both obelisks, a third appeared in California.
On December 1, specialist Andy Lewis posted a short video online that shows a group of four people removing parts of a metal structure, while the protesters’ faces are blurred and the area is unrecognizable due to darkness.
In an interview with Grit Daily, Lewis said he decided to remove the obelisk due to the large number of tourists who began flocking to the Utah desert to personally see the object and take a photo. According to the specialist, people came to the monolith in all kinds of transport and did not think at all about how they spoiled the intact landscape.
“We support art and artists, but legality and ethics set standards, especially here in the desert,” he said. “This land was not physically prepared for the displacement of the population. People came in cars, buses, vans, helicopters, motorcycles, but there is not even parking here. ”
Notably, Lewis’s version matches the story of photographer Ross Bernards, who claimed on Instagram that he became an accidental witness to the dismantling of the monolith. The man allegedly approached the object at night to photograph it in the moonlight, when after a time a group of people arrived and quickly left along with the structure.
The people were divided. Some admitted that Lewis only decided to speak out on a loud topic and filmed a late night video that doesn’t inspire confidence. One way or another, there are no fewer questions for monoliths, because even if the specialist actually removed the structure, he denies his participation in its installation.
Neither in the United States nor in Romania, the local authorities still have no versions or clues. At the same time, representatives of the US Bureau of Land Management announced that they intend to investigate the “theft”, as well as find the offenders who installed the obelisk in the protected area.
