According to him, Ukraine’s healthcare system will not survive if up to 40,000 beds are occupied at the same time in hospitals that are prepared for COVID-19 patients, and a strict quarantine (lockdown) will need to be introduced to prevent collapse.
The popular deputy of the Servant of the People faction regretted that the weekend quarantine “did not give the expected results”, and during the past week, up to 28,000 beds of the 52,000 supposedly available were already occupied in hospitals (according to the head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov).
“The chain (of infections), unfortunately, did not stop, did not break, but at least the system has such a reserve. If the bed load increases, if it will be from 35 to 40 thousand beds, then this is the first indicator that a lock should be entered “. – said Radutsky.
When this can happen, you do not commit to predict. The popular deputy recalled that the authorities are obliged to warn about the introduction of the confinement a week before.
According to the head of the committee, during the shutdown, all office workers should switch to telecommuting. Only critical infrastructure facilities will work: hospitals, nuclear power plants, pharmacies and small shops. Everything else should be closed, said the popular deputy.
“Regarding transportation, I think it makes no sense to close international flights. Because what are we doing the blockade for? To reduce the accumulation of people in some places. If people can afford to go somewhere on vacation (and on New Years We always have this tradition, people left), then we also reduce the concentration of people, this will also allow us to break the chain … I would not close international air traffic, but transport must be closed, except the official one, so that the people can get to that work where they work even at closure. The shopping and entertainment center, all entertainment establishments must be closed, there must be overcrowding restrictions even outdoors, “Radutsky said.
With restrictions, Ukraine can use the experience of other European countries, he added.
On the eve of the Cabinet of Ministers deciding what will be the quarantine in Ukraine. The government will not extend the weekend quarantine and restrictions will be applied in the “orange” zone throughout the country.
