Japanese researchers have found that people with COVID-19 have antibodies for at least six months after infection. They believe that they are the strongest among those who have had a difficulty disease course.

This is reported in the study edition.

The study was conducted at Yokohama City University. In attendance were 376 people between the ages of 20 and 70 who were infected with the coronavirus between February and May.

The scientists analyzed blood samples taken six months after the infection from people.

According to their results, 97 percent of the people who had the disease were asymptomatic or had few mild symptoms, and 100 percent who had a moderate to severe course of the disease, have neutralizing antibodies in their systems (a type of protein produced in the body after infection, which weakens viral activity and prevents further infection). The strongest antibodies against the coronavirus were found in people who were in serious condition.

The researchers believe this discovery is good news for vaccine development. They also say they will conduct more research in six months.
