Moldova’s president-elect Maia Sandu announced the country’s parliament’s attempt to seize power. He called on the citizens of Moldova to take part in the protest actions.
This was discussed at Sandu’s briefing in Chisinau, which was broadcast on Facebook.
The deputies of the socialist party proposed to the parliament to withdraw the Information and Security Service from the subordination of the president of Moldova. The corresponding bill has already been submitted to the Moldovan parliament.
“This bill is an undemocratic abuse of a politician who lost the presidential elections. It is an attempt to seize power. We will appeal these abuses in the Constitutional Court and ask the people for help,” Sandu said.
He added that in this way the ruling party is trying to prevent “beginning to restore order in the country.”
“So they want to cancel the election results. I urge you to come out and defend your vote,” said the future president.
Let us remind you that before that Sandu advocated for the resignation of the current Moldovan government and the holding of early parliamentary elections. Sandu announced the fight against corruption in the country.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the inauguration of Sandu should take place at the end of December 2020.
However, the Constitutional Court of Moldova has not yet recognized the results of the presidential elections due to litigation.
