Akademik Chersky ship
The laying of pipes in German waters will resume on December 5. The work is expected to be carried out by the ship Akademik Chersky.
The Nord Stream 2 project operator, Nord Stream 2 AG, will resume laying pipes on December 5, Bloomberg reports, citing a representative from the German Maritime and Hydrographic Agency.
“We assume Nord Stream 2 plans to use the Akademik Chersky vessel,” he said.
It should be noted that the company “will resume the pipe laying works on December 5.”
As you know, the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was stopped almost a year ago due to the US sanctions. After the imposition of sanctions, the Swiss contractor Allseas reduced work on the project. Yesterday it became known that the only ship that was able to complete the construction, the Russian pipe-laying ship Akademik Chersky, after a month-long stay in the German port of Mukran, is returning to Kaliningrad.
It was also reported that new Washington restrictions, which should be adopted in the near future, could “bury” the project.
