The average monthly temperature in December is expected to be 3 degrees below zero to 2 degrees Celsius (in Crimea up to 4 degrees Celsius). This is 1-1.5 degrees higher than the long-term average values. The corresponding forecast was given by the Ukrhydrometeorological Center.
According to forecasters, monthly precipitation is expected to be 32-82mm, in Transcarpathia and in the Crimean Mountains 108-132mm, which is within long-term average values.
According to meteorologists, the snow cover usually forms over most of the territory of Ukraine in December, only in the extreme south it does not settle every year.
“In December, there are likely to be strong winds, snowstorms and the adhesion of wet snow during thaws – fog and ice,” the message says.
Long-term observational data indicates that the absolute maximum air temperature in December is 10-18 degrees Celsius, in the southern part and in the Carpathian region in some places 19-20 degrees, in Crimea up to 25 degrees . The absolute minimum is 21 to 37 degrees below zero, in the southern regions 17 to 28 degrees below zero. Average monthly rainfall is 33-67 mm, in Transcarpathia and in some places in mountainous areas 62-142 mm.
Previous forecasters gave a forecast for the beginning of winter in Ukraine. On the roads of Ukraine, except for the southeastern part, there is ice in some places. Wet snow is expected in most of the country.
