Messi tried to replicate the Hand of God and celebrated a goal with Maradona’s shirt

Lionel Messi dedicated today’s goal against Osasuna to Diego Maradona, who passed away this week.

During the celebration, Leo took off his shirt and under it was another, a dozen Newells Old Boys from 1993, under which Diego Armando played for the club at the time.

Maradona previously coached Messi for the Argentina national team in 2008-10, and they have repeatedly congratulated each other in the past. After Diego’s death, Leo wrote a post on Instagram in which he pointed out that “Maradona cannot leave because he is eternal.”

For his performance, Lionel received a yellow card from Mateu Laos, which apparently did not bother him in the least.

Curiously, during the match with Osasuna, Messi tried to repeat Maradona’s famous “hand of God”, but in the presence of the VAR, he surely did not succeed.
