On Sunday 29 November, the Finnish Kontiolahti hosted the women’s sprint race as part of the first stage of the World Cup.
The perfect run was given by Hanna Oeberg: the Swede showed excellent distance speed and a perfect shot, thanks to which she won. For the Swede, this is her first win in sprinting, she has already won individual races and mass starts.
Norwegians Martha Olsby Royseland and Caroline Knotten also managed without fail on the shooting range. They were a bit slower and thus won silver and bronze medals respectively.
Olena Pidgrushna pleased the Ukrainian fans with her performance. After a mistake on the first shot, the captain of the Ukraine women’s team did not give up, shot clean while on her feet and then showed phenomenal speed on the third lap. All this allowed him to occupy the tenth place.
Daria Blashko could show a good result. After the first shot, she got the fifth result, but two rounds of penalty after standing placed her in 50th place.
