Shakhtar beat Dnipro-1 1-0 in the UPL game thanks to Tete’s goal in the 88th minute. Mentor Luis Castro has an incredibly busy schedule.
– How did you manage to restore the team after the Champions League match?
– To be frank, we did not manage to prepare this game. The only thing we tried was to restore the guys in 48 hours and just come to the game.
– You really have a tight schedule, but you were preparing for it. How do you plan to spend the rest of the season at this pace?
– The biggest problem is the calendar. We ended last season with the semi-finals of the Europa League, and three days later we started the new season without any rest. Other teams that reached these stages of the European Cup had between 7 and 15 days off. We started the new season three days later. In this rhythm, there are many nuances of the game, the principles are forgotten, they are lost. We have no training to learn something new. We work only for restoration. And in addition to this busy schedule, the wave of the coronavirus hit us, some footballers were injured. We know that the Dnepr-1 now also suffers from certain personnel problems.
Now we live a life like this: we arrive, we go to games, we play. It probably takes 40 players to play games like this. I am not saying this in any way to protect myself. It’s just that the administrations of all the clubs need to understand how difficult it is to prepare a team now. This is a completely new challenge. And we look at all the championships, there are constant surprises everywhere. The same teams play very unstable.
