Stepanov believes that the “weekend quarantine” “brought down the dynamics” of the incidence of COVID-19

Ukrainian Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said that the effect of the “weekend quarantine” should be considered alongside other restrictive measures in place in Ukraine.

Next week, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine will publish information on the effectiveness of the “weekend quarantine”. This was announced on November 27 on the air of the Inter TV channel by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov.

“Next week we will say if we have managed to achieve the effect we want. But we already see and understand that we have reduced the weekly dynamics of the incidence rate,” Stepanov said.

He also added that the effect of the “weekend quarantine” should be considered in conjunction with other restrictive measures in place in Ukraine.

An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.

In Ukraine, the last three days, there have been record rates of incidence of COVID-19. Thus, during the previous day the disease was confirmed in more than 16,294 thousand patients, the total number of infected exceeded 709 thousand, of which 335.3 thousand recovered, more than 12 thousand died.

On November 11, Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers introduced a “weekend quarantine” in addition to other restrictive measures. For three weekends (November 14-15, November 21-22 and 28-29), non-food stores, entertainment establishments must be closed, catering establishments can only work to go.
