A man was caught near Chernobyl who was fishing from Pripyat.

The 57-year-old decided to go fishing near the town of Chernobyl, police say.

In the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, law enforcement officers captured a man who was engaged in illegal fishing in the Pripyat River. This was announced on Friday, November 27, by the press service of the National Pedagogical University of the Kiev region.

According to the report, while patrolling the zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, law enforcement officers noticed a fisherman in the water area of ​​the Pripyat River, who entered the territory of the exclusion zone outside the checkpoint.

“During the inspection of the motorboat, prohibited fishing equipment was found, which is used exclusively in the cold season, as well as fresh fish. All this was seized by law enforcement officers and sent for the corresponding examinations,” the statement said. .

In fact, investigators from the Chernobyl zone police department initiated criminal proceedings under art. 249 (Illegal fishing, fishing for animals or others) of the Penal Code, which provides for a fine of one hundred to two hundred minimum tax-free income of citizens, or restriction of freedom for up to three years.

In addition, an administrative protocol was drawn up for the unauthorized entry to the exclusion zone against the offender under art. 46-1 (Violation of the requirements of the radiation safety regime in areas exposed to radioactive contamination) of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses. The materials of the administrative case were sent to the court for a decision.

Previously, in the Kharkiv region, the family was mistaken for poachers and opened fire. The woman was seriously injured.
