“They lied to us! The UAF deliberately chose a technician from Switzerland “

Head of the Media Relations Department at Dynamo Nikolai Nesenyuk commented on UEFA’s decision to award a technical defeat to the Ukrainian team in the Nations League game against Switzerland:

“At first, it turned out that they blatantly lied to us for over a week. From Monday, November 16, when the match between Switzerland and Ukraine was threatened, until Wednesday, November 25, when UEFA gave us a technical defeat 0: 3 in this match. We are no strangers to widespread lies, but they are still nasty.

During this time, several sacks of various versions and competent comments were thrown at us. It was actually only worth reporting that after local Swiss authorities did not allow players from the Ukrainian national team to play due to the coronavirus, we were given time to bring in other players in their place. It was then that the national team of players under 21 years old was in Kiev, and it took several hours to transport them to Switzerland. But our football management did not. That’s it.

Talk about the Swiss conspiracy and everything we will leave for the less literate. In fact, our soccer association made a mistake that destroyed the work of the coaches and players of the national teams. There may be two reasons for this error, in my case.

The first is the elementary illiteracy and common negligence inherent in the actions of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). Any competent lawyer would immediately point out the inadmissibility of refusing to bring another squad of players to Switzerland. Changes to the regulations for European competitions, adopted before the start of the season, indicated that there would be no postponements of matches due to the coronavirus! This is not the Ukraine championship, where you are completely confused with these transfers and you don’t know what they will do next!

And where can the UAF get competent lawyers, if there is simply a problem with competent people? It is enough to read individual passages of regulatory documents or decisions of this organization. There, many well-deserved former coaches and footballers are constantly working for high salaries. But with all due respect to them, they are by no means lawyers. We won’t say anything about literacy. And why do they need literacy, if in internal matters the argument works perfectly: as he said, it will be! This does not work at UEFA!

As a result, our football association found itself in a situation where Dynamo Kiev found itself two years ago, which asked the aforementioned UAF to postpone the Mariupol championship match. All of the Dynamo’s arguments were later dismissed and they were credited with defeat. Now UEFA has dropped all the arguments of the Ukrainian team!

The second possible reason for the inappropriate actions of our soccer leaders is even worse than illiteracy and incompetence. The idea arises that our football leaders deliberately went to Ukraine’s technical defeat to Switzerland. Because they did not believe that the Swiss team would not lose! We decided that it would be better to get a manager and blame UEFA for everything than to embarrass ourselves on the football field.

You will say that this cannot be! I thought so too, until I found out that Andrei Pavelko, the UAF president, went on vacation on November 21. It was when UEFA decided the fate of the Switzerland-Ukraine match. Why didn’t Pavelko rush to the headquarters of the European Football Association, where he is a member of the executive committee? Why didn’t he just sit there all day, defending the interests of Ukraine’s main team? It seems that it was not necessary. The result was known in advance, so he could safely go to the warm sea.

You stay there and I went; This is what Andrei Pavelk’s order might look like before going on vacation. Maybe the words were different, but the content is exactly that. And while Ukrainian football fans were concerned about the fate of the national team, hearing cisterns of lies from the UAF, their leader rested peacefully.

Why not rest? Perhaps someone will say against a crooked word? Perhaps the coach of the national team, Andriy Shevchenko, will be outraged that his team’s work has been thrown away? That is unlikely. “
