The deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Kirill Tymoshenko, believes that the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada is an example of a new political elite. He stated this in an interview with the editor-in-chief of the publication “GORDON”, Ales Batsman.
He pointed out that in the history of Ukraine there was no parliamentary faction of this size.
“Did someone rule a 250-person faction? No. No one knows what it would be like under any other political leader with any other political flag. It just hasn’t happened in the history of the country. There are different deputies. Someone has their own interests.” and some of his convicts don’t want to vote for certain laws. They are all personalities, ”he said.
Then, the deputy head of the OPU answered the question why, before many votes, President Volodymyr Zelensky has to convince the deputies of the mono-majority of the need to vote for a certain bill.
“You cannot take the Servant of the People faction as a mass that runs somewhere. Yes, this is the majority, it follows only one course, but each person still has some nuances,” added Tymoshenko.
He did not deny that some deputies of the Rada can be “bought”.
“I cannot say that there is no such thing in the Verkhovna Rada. For everyone, this is a well-known story, that anyway someone comes somewhere and offers money to the deputies. This is not a secret to anyone. But to Judging by how we vote for the laws, especially those introduced by the president, we managed to contain this majority, because people came for the most part for their convictions to the Servant of the People faction, not to bite into a piece of the cake or something else. These are beliefs and a new political elite. ” , – he said.
Tymoshenko added that “there are mistakes somewhere.”
But in any case, this is a new format of people. I cannot say that I am buying them and we are fighting it. Yes, there were cases where we received that information. There are some internal decisions we make when receiving information. They will stabilize the situation throughout the faction, ”said the deputy chief of the OPU.
When the journalist asked him to clarify which methods were being discussed, he said that they were internal decisions and did not reveal details.

In 2020, Alexander Yurchenko, already expelled from the faction, became indicted in a corruption scandal involving “buns”.
