The AstraZeneca vaccine will be tested again
The reason was doubts about the reliability of the previous test results. However, the second test will take place in a shorter period of time than the first.
AstraZeneca intends to conduct additional research on a candidate for a coronavirus vaccine. The tests will be conducted because of doubts about the effectiveness of the vaccine, Bloomberg reported Thursday, November 26.
According to the CEO of the company Pascal Sorio, additional research is needed to understand the real effectiveness of the drug after the developers understood how much the first and second injections should be administered.
“This may be another international study, but it will be faster because we know that the vaccine is highly effective and we need fewer patients,” Sorio said.
It is noted that during the development of the vaccine and its massive testing, it turned out that with the introduction of two full doses of the drug, its effectiveness is 62%, and with the introduction of the first small dose and the second largest dose, it increases to 90%.
It was previously known that the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca vaccine was 70%.
Later, the main developer of the vaccine explained the lower percentage of its effectiveness by the calculation method.
Today it was reported that the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca vaccine remains unknown.
