If a person who has had a coronavirus begins to lose antibodies after six months, then it is necessary to update them, explained the head of the Ministry of Health.
The COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine may be necessary even for those who have already had the disease. Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said this on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel last night.
The head of the Ministry of Health explained that the vaccine produces antibodies, which then fight the virus and prevent it from infecting the body.
“If a person who has been ill, after six months, the antibodies start to disappear, then it is clear that these antibodies must be updated. After all, he is also threatened and will have to be vaccinated. Especially if this person is at risk.” he explained. Stepanov, who is now being treated for COVID-19 himself.
At the same time, the minister pointed out that it would be necessary to look at a specific vaccine, for how long to introduce it.
“What to do, how – all this will be established in the instructions (for the vaccine – ed.), That we will use and make decisions,” added the head of the Ministry of Health.
Stepanov recalled that Ukraine hopes to receive a vaccine within the framework of the international initiative COVAX.
“Until December 7, we must all sign all the technical documents with them to obtain a vaccine by this mechanism, this is 8 million doses. In addition, there are negotiations with other companies, they are carried out every day. Every day I have meetings, and there is a corresponding movement dynamic. with other companies from which we are going to buy the vaccine. There are different delivery times, all this will be in 2021 ”, he said.
Recall that in Ukraine, the authorities have already decided who will be the first to receive the COVID vaccine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video message.
