The German Federal Police is investigating about 1,400 cases of illegal residence in the country. They mainly feature women from Ukraine.
On November 25, the German federal police, together with customs officials, conducted a special nationwide operation against illegal employment in the home care sector. The press service of the Federal Police said that around a thousand law enforcement officers were involved in the operation, searches were carried out in 130 residential and commercial premises.
Simultaneously with the searches in Germany, the Polish prosecutor’s office carried out investigative actions against the three main suspects in the framework of legal aid.
The basis of the raid was the investigation of the case against three Polish citizens and 71 people associated with them in Germany. They are suspected of illegally transporting foreigners for commercial purposes, illegal employment, deprivation and theft of wages.
“About three years ago, the federal police began to learn more and more about the people of Ukraine who, during their alleged tourist stay in Germany, began to illegally accept jobs in the field of home care on behalf of and at the expense of Polish companies. “said the German police.
They were not given official permission to work in Germany. In total, the police are investigating almost 1,400 cases of illegal residence in Germany. The majority are women from Ukraine.
As a general rule, Ukrainian workers are hired by Polish companies in Ukraine, after which their services are offered to German clients, according to the report.
During the investigation, the police seized data carriers, documents, firearms, ammunition, some 60,000 euros in cash and a kilogram of gold worth tens of thousands of euros.
