The Israeli prime minister thanked Zelensky for the joint work and promised that the deal would lead to an increase in trade turnover between the two countries, as well as additional investments.
In early 2021, an agreement on a free economic zone between Ukraine and Israel will enter into force. This was announced on Wednesday, November 25, by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his Facebook page.
“Good news for our economy: an agreement on a free economic zone between us and Ukraine will come into effect early next year,” Netanyahu wrote.
According to him, this will lead to an increase in commercial turnover and the expansion of cooperation in agriculture and high technologies, as well as additional investments.
“This is an important step that all the citizens of Israel will benefit from. Thanks to President Volodymyr Zelensky for working together,” the Israeli prime minister wrote, adding that this will take relations between the two countries “to new heights.”
As reported, Ukraine and Israel signed a free trade agreement in early 2019. And negotiations on this issue started in 2013, but the most intensive work was carried out in 2016-2018, the Ukrainian delegation held 7 rounds of Negotiations, which ended in March 2018. The agreement was initialed last year in April, legal proceedings continued until November. On November 21, 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the agreement and authorized Stepan Kubiv to sign it.
