The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a special operation, during which they arrested the commander of one of the National Guard units for high treason. The military passed information on the defense of Ukraine to the Russian special services, reports the press service SBU.

“According to the investigation, the Ukrainian military man was recruited by representatives of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces in 2019. Following the instructions of the curators, the agent collected information on the provision of military assistance by international partners to the units of the National Guard and the activities of foreign instructors. Russian intelligence was also interested in the design of Ukraine’s military installations. ” says the message.

Law enforcement officers at the suspect’s place of service and residence found evidence indicating his illegal activities.

The attacker was announced on suspicion of having committed a crime under Part 1 of art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court chose it as a preventive measure in the form of arrest.

Earlier it was reported that the prosecutor’s office accused former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych of high treason. The investigation recognized that the former president’s reforms undermined the combat effectiveness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
