We are not talking about the introduction of stricter measures now, – Denis Shmygal
The Cabinet is preparing for all scenarios and a shutdown in Ukraine is possible over the New Year holidays. Now the whole country is in the orange zone.
Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers is not yet introducing a stricter quarantine, but the government is preparing for different scenarios of the situation with the coronavirus. Therefore, a blockade in the country is possible during the New Years and Christmas holidays. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmyhal, on Wednesday November 25 at a government meeting.
The decision will be made based on the results of the weekend’s quarantine. But now, authorities point out, there has been a decrease in population mobility.
“We are preparing for all possible scenarios, including the introduction of the quarantine for the winter holidays. Now the whole country is in the orange zone, a weekend quarantine is in effect,” Shmygal said.
The prime minister added that the government openly states that it is developing a plan in case the situation worsens with the spread of the coronavirus infection in the country.
“We are not talking about the introduction of tougher measures now. But we understand that the end of December and the beginning of January are the period of the New Year holidays. They are meetings, fairs, close contacts between people. And all this can give a boost significant to a disease outbreak, that the medical system can not bear it “, – said Denis Shmygal.
He also said that the Cabinet of Ministers predicts a plateau in the incidence of COVID-19 in early December.
“We can see a definite improvement in the current situation both in the number of beds occupied and in the number of patients,” said the prime minister, adding that the number of patients in hospitals has stabilized at the level of 27-28 one thousand.
“We are not moving forward, we are not crossing the 30,000 mark. And this is a positive result,” Shmygal said.
We have already reported that Vinnitsa plans to postpone the weekend quarantine. Instead of Saturday to Sunday, the establishments will be closed from Monday to Tuesday. This measure aims to help entrepreneurs.
We also write that the quarantine will be relaxed in Europe at Christmas.
