The Hungarian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to Budapest Lyubov Nepop. The reason for this is the refusal of the Hungarian politician Istvan Grezha to enter Ukraine.
It is reported by Hungary today.
Foreign Minister Peter Siyjarto informed the Ukrainian ambassador about Hungary’s outrage, but hopes to restore good relations.
“We broadcast our protest and hope that one day Ukraine will truly return to the pursuit of joint success stories and cooperation based on mutual respect. We are ready for this,” the minister said.
According to Siyjarto, the travel ban to Grega is contrary to the development of friendship and the search for common success.
We will recall, it was previously reported that Ukraine has banned two Hungarian officials from entry due to the campaign in Transcarpathia. They called to support the political force “Party of the Hungarians of Ukraine” in the elections.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine explained that Grezha in public space violated the provisions of the Electoral Code of Ukraine, which prohibits foreigners from campaigning in elections.
The European Union asked to resolve this conflict on the basis of the principle of good neighborly relations.
