Von der Leyen urged EU countries to prepare for vaccination
The first citizens of the European Union will be vaccinated against the coronavirus at the end of December, says the head of the European Commission.
Vaccination against the coronavirus in the European Union is scheduled to begin before the end of the year, said the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, reported the press service of the EC on Wednesday 25 November.
He said that he has already signed contracts with six companies for the supply of COVID vaccines.
“The first European citizens can be vaccinated at the end of December. Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” von der Leyen said.
He urged EU member states to prepare for vaccination.
“The member states must prepare the logistics for the possible deployment of hundreds of millions of doses. Because this is our ticket out of this pandemic,” said the head of the European Commission.

“We hope that next month we can make the first applications of the vaccine,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
At the same time, Turkey intends to start using its coronavirus vaccine in the spring.
“We plan to bring our vaccine to the application level no later than April. We are thinking of offering the vaccine that we have developed for the benefit of all humanity,” Erdogan said.
In Ukraine, the start of vaccination is expected not earlier than the end of spring. The NSDC believes that Ukraine will be able to vaccinate the entire population against the coronavirus no later than the end of next year.
At the same time, the WHO believes that vaccines will not work if not all countries have the same access, if they are not used effectively and if doubts about vaccines are not overcome.
