New Traffic Rules for November 24: How to Buckle Up, How to Ride Bicyclists, and Rules for Pedestrians

As of today, November 24, new changes in the traffic rules took effect.

The changes affected pedestrians, passengers, drivers and cyclists. This was announced by the deputy chief of the Patrol Police Department, Alexei Beloshitsky.

What changes have been made:

  • For drivers and passengers. Previously, not all taxi drivers and passengers had to wear a seatbelt inside the settlement, nor driving instructors, nor outside it. Now everyone is required to buckle up anyway, and taxi drivers need to make sure they have seat belts not only in the front, but also in the rear seats, and also remind passengers to fasten their seat belts. The exceptions apply to persons and passengers with disabilities, as well as drivers and passengers of special vehicles.
  • For cyclists. Bicyclists may move in the lane of the vehicle route.
  • For pedestrians. Pedestrians should use reflective items in the dark or in poor visibility conditions. Remember that the rules apply to those pedestrians moving down the road or the side of the road.

It should be noted that drivers are now prohibited from changing the shape, color and location of license plates, as well as applying additional designations to them. Also, the rooms should be clean and well lit. Remember that in October, the Foreign Minister announced that Ukrainians will be able to choose the plates independently.

These aren’t the first rule changes for drivers this fall. Vgorode reported that since October 1, all Ukrainian drivers had to turn on their low beams on rural roads at any time of the day. This is due to a decrease in daylight hours and worsening weather conditions. This rule will be valid until May 1 of the next year.
